Ma Pi Leng Pass is a small tour operator on the Dong Van plateau that runs private trips around the Ha Giang Loop by car. Every trip has its own car, a driver who knows the mountain roads, and a licensed local guide who speaks English. We sell two routes, three days from Ha Giang city and four days door to door from Hanoi, and change either one on request.
We do not rent motorbikes or run easy rider groups. This site is where you book us directly: the price, the booking and the questions all come to the same people who run the trip.

The Ha Giang Loop became famous as a motorbike trip, and for many people it still should be one. It is also the only way a lot of travellers ever hear about it, and plenty of them do not ride: parents with children, couples in their sixties, people who have seen the hairpins on Ma Pi Leng in a video and decided they would rather look at them than steer round them.
We built our trips for them. A car takes you to the same passes, villages and viewpoints, with a roof when it rains, a seat for everyone, and a guide sitting beside you rather than shouting over an engine.
What every trip includes
One price per group covers the whole trip. There is nothing to pay at any gate, pier or checkpoint along the way.

What we will not do
No shop stops
We do not take you to souvenir markets or workshops that pay drivers to bring guests. If you want to buy linen in Lung Tam or a scarf in Dong Van, your guide will translate; if you want to buy nothing, nobody will mind.
No promises the mountains cannot keep
We cannot promise a clear sky over Ma Pi Leng, a boat on the Nho Que after heavy rain, or buckwheat flowers outside the autumn weeks when they bloom. When the weather changes the plan, your guide changes the route and tells you why. Landslides after heavy rain or a road closure can change the route on the day; your guide re-routes, with no partial refund. If the authorities close the loop or a natural disaster makes the tour impossible, you move the date free or get a 100% refund.
No convoy
Your trip is not a seat in a group of strangers. You decide how long to stay at a viewpoint and when to stop for coffee.
Booking, payment and cancellation
Two ways: pay the full price online by card, or pay a 30% deposit online and the rest in cash on the first day of the tour, in US dollars or Vietnamese dong. We can also send a secure payment link on WhatsApp. The booking is confirmed once the online payment goes through, and your pickup time and guide’s name arrive in writing.
Yes — free cancellation up to 5 days before departure for a full refund, and free rescheduling subject to availability. Within 5 days of departure, 30% of the tour price is charged because the car, guide and hotel rooms are already committed.
Children under five travel free, and every trip can be tailored before you book. The full terms are in our booking terms and our cancellation and refund policy.
The border permit
Foreign visitors need a border-area permit for Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van and Meo Vac. We arrange it for every guest on our tours — send a photo of your passport on WhatsApp after booking.

Are you a travel agency or do you run the trips yourselves?
We run them. The car, the driver, the guide and the route are arranged by us, and the booking you make on this site comes straight to the team that runs the trip.
Do you offer motorbike or easy rider tours?
No. Every trip we run is by car, with a driver. If you want to ride the loop yourself, a motorbike rental in Ha Giang city is the better way to do it.
Can you change the route?
Yes. Every trip is tailored on request: add a night, skip a stop, start from a different hotel or go slower. Tell us what you want before you book and we will send the plan and the price.
Is the guide licensed?
Yes. Every trip is led by a licensed local guide from the region who speaks English.
